Tyre Repair & Replacement

Tyre repair and replacement

Ever wondered when should you change your car tyres? Your tyre condition is intrinsically linked to the vehicle's safety, performance and efficiency. Tyres in good condition has distinct tread that are well above the safety indicator on the tyre which diverts water on the road to improve traction and prevents skidding.

As a standard gauge, if your tyre tread is reduced to 1.6mm or 1/16 of an inch, you should start to change your tyres.

What You Should Look Out For!

A typical example of a serverely worn-off tyre. Notice the tyre tread is extremely bare and this could be lead to dangerous road accidents. On a wet surface road, the grip of the tyre would be compromised and skidding may occur. As a rule of thumb, we advise you to change your tyres for every 30,000-50,000 miles travelled.

Every tyre has a safety marking denoted by a "Triangle" as represented by the orange box. The safety marking points to the safety indicator of the tyre as represented by the green circle. A good tyre should have the tyre tread well above the indicator. If your tyre tread is less than 1.6mm above the indicator, it is time to change your tyre.

3 Steps to take good care of your tyres

1

Avoid potholes & debris along the way. Going over them may result in loss of tyre alignment and damaging your tyre treads. Observe the road conditions in front of you to allow you enough time to manoeuvre around them.

2

Ensure that your tyres are inflated to an optimal level. If you find that your ride seems particularly bumpy, it may be that your tyres are overinflated. With over- or under- inflated tyres, your tyre lifespan would be reduced as the contact surface to the ground is not optimal and increasing wear and tear.

3

Conduct tyre rotation. To get extra mileage from your tyres, you should conduct tyre rotation which is to rotate your tyres to another position to ensure even wearing. Tyres should rotate every 6,000 miles of distance travelled. We do provide this service as well so contact us if you require tyre rotation.
